AshtrayHow do I clean rust off a brass ashtray stand?

I have an old brass ashtray stand and he left me outside is covered with rust I anyone knows how to get clean?

You start with a sandpaper and sand the metal until the rust has disappeared.
You can get different grains of sandpaper and black metal if you use the heavy then use a finer grain when rust almost disapeard. Then you may want to seal. lot of luck.

If this is indeed the rust, then you probably have an ashtray in brass. Make sure to take the rust, as most of the brass plate will probably come with him.

You can buy blocks release (sort of steel wool in plastic) in hardware and use it to stretch. The next step would be to the real steel wool.

There are also products you can find in the automotive supply stores that you can spray it and it will help remove the heaviest rust. "Naval Jelly" is one of those products.

use a soft scrub or baking soda a little cleaner and clean it well.
you might have to do several times before it comes out clean.

Try to put ketchup on it. I'm dead serious ketchup cleans brass and maybe he can clean the rust ...

Cut the lemons and salt. If it is rust, it is not solid brass then rub lightly and be careful.
