New range of Saab biofuel cars The Swedish based subsidiary of General Motors, Saab (producer of high quality components such as Saab Saab thermostat ), has recently asserted leadership in the flex-fuel growing segment with the launch of its unique BioPower concept. The system allows the use of the combination of using E85 supercharger to increase horsepower and performance.
CO2 emissions have been reduced by nearly 80 percent. Saab 9-5 BioPower has set the standard for biofuel cars in Ireland. The options are now available to a wider range of clients, especially with the new Saab 9-3 range which features a choice of two engines 180 hp BioPower powerful innovation (132kW) twin-turbo 1.9 diesel, a 280bhp Value (206kW), 2.8V6 turbo gasoline engine and another 175 hp 2.0t Saab BioPower option offering 200bhp (147 kW) while running on bioethanol E85.
The introduction of the Saab 9-5 BioPower has been perfect considering that the government issued its support for flex-fuel vehicles by providing discounts of 50 per cent VRT refund of registration tax and VAT on E85 fuel for company vehicles.
The new Saab 9-5 BioPower running on E85 reduces CO2 emissions by 80 percent to protect the environment and help the economy much more than ethanol used is derived from whey which is a sub -product of cheese production and distributed Maxol.
In addition, the new 9-3 BioPower 1.8T engine that also runs on E85 delivers maximum power of 16 percent more torque over 10 per cent more. Meanwhile, the sports sedan can accelerate from 0-100 kph in 8.4 seconds and reach 80-120 km / h in fifth gear in 13.9 seconds, compared to 9.5 seconds and 15.0 seconds respectively, on gasoline.
The 9-3 range features a powerful new engine now four-cylinder diesel with a single two-stage turbo charging system which is a world first in the segment of luxury cars. The 1.9-liter, 16-valve engine is badged with TTiD, towers up to 180 hp (132kW) and 400Nm of maximum torque unmatched among competitive cars on the market. The combined fuel consumption for the sedan is projected 5.91/100k. Its engine offers class leading economy, combined with speed performance on par with the 2.8V6 turbo petrol engine.
The two levels of Vector Sport and Aero specifications must be equipped with a Saab engine TTiD. Scheduled for spring 2008, the Saab engine TTiD will join the current Board of powerful engines offered by the Swedish car maker, including the 120 bhp (88kW) and 150 hp (110 kW) 1.9 TiD engines are available with a choice of six-speed manual or automatic.
