Detour Bars, Low Sugar

Posted on February 10, 2010.
Detour Bars, Low SugarProtein Bars

So you walk into the alley at the local grocery store, the cute, athletic brunette with ice blue eyes passes you by. You get the lock look "old" but no smile. Hmmm, of course, you turn around to see the back, but it is already out of sight. So you walk your way to fast lane following and its place at the other end looking at something. So you can go and pretend that you are looking for something in the same place it. You notice that it looks at all these "Protein Bars". You think to yourself, "Why the hell do people eat this shit tasting cardboard!" Right now, she turns to you and says: "It looks like you do not need them I think your Snickers, Twix and 100 Grand bars will keep you busy." Busted! Damn. You're speechless and hunger.

So why the protein bars become so popular? Sit down and take a cup of Joe, because you're about to be presented to the chocolate bar new and improved.

Protein bars began as a bit of an accident with the concept Power Bar. At first they were just a group of carbohydrate for people who need extra energy on the road. I know what you think ..... who needs calories? Yes, well, some people who do not spend their time behind a desk or computer all the time spend more calories than they can eat! So for these guys, the power bar was invented. But nobody paid much attention to what they tasted like .... So they tasted basically like shit.

Fast forward a few years and you'll find tons of different protein bars and drinks, energy bars and drinks on the shelves from July to November in grocery stores everywhere. Now many of these bars have serious problems with them. Either they taste like shit full, have too many calories, or that are essentially a bar of chocolate with a protein "or" energy "label. So how can you understand those who are good?? And better yet , why the hell do you care?

First, you care because they are a fantastic source of protein that can be placed and maintained EVERYWHERE. The car, office, boat, back pocket .... everywhere you can think you can keep. The more places you can stash them, the less time you will be "OVER-hungry" and the less likely you are eating a pizza is great and an ounce Dr Pepper 64! So if you try to stick to a healthy diet and regulated, these babies are fantastic. Secondly, the protein satisfies our hunger for much longer than carbohydrates (simple carbohydrates in particular). So, the trick is to find a protein bar that you want to eat, with a good composition of proteins, carbohydrates and calories. A good rule is to get a bar that has 15-20 grams of protein for every 125 to 175 calories. This means you get about 40 grams of protein for a little over 300 calories. If you keep this ratio, you are able to stick to your "five small meals per day" program much easier.

So what are those good taste?? Well, so far, "Chief Jay" and company have been to a few protein bars are not bad at all. I also like the "Detour" bar. A right protein bar is very popular now "Promax Bar. From tasteful everything is relative to each person, but I can tell you that everything that says "low carb" on it, probably "Sugar alcohol" as an ingredient and the taste of shit. Otherwise, get out there and try again!
