All fresh fruits, including pineapples are packed with enzymes, however, pineapple is known to be packed with an enzyme called bromelain. This gives the result of the amazing properties of natural anti-inflammatories and analgesics. Of course, like most fruit is full of vitamin C. They are second only to American banana tropical fruit.



This allows the enzyme bromelain pineapple useful in the treatment of bruises, sprains and strains by reducing swelling, tenderness and pain. This anti-inflammatory properties help relieve the symptoms of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis and reduce swelling after surgery. Bromelain also acts as a digestive enzymes to help digest protein. Most of the bromelain is concentrated in the core of the pineapple and for this reason that I always add the stem to my smoothies. Pineapple is also known to help retain water.



For the benefit of bromelain as an anti-inflammatory and a digestive enzyme, it's important to know that enzymes are very susceptible to light and temperature especially heat. Thus, any product purchased in the pineapple trade is dead, so to speak, the enzymes have been destroyed. That goes for juice bought, canned, frozen and dried and pineapple.



When choosing a color of fresh pineapple is not necessarily a good indicator of maturity, some are at their best when still green, it depends on the variety, ranging from green to yellow. The most important factor in determining maturity is a flavor that your nose help you decide. Ripe pineapple smell sweet and fresh tropical. Avoid pineapples that give off an odor slightly drinks, they are too mature and ferment. Avoid pineapples with spots or areas of soft dark spots. eat pineapple at room temperature to enjoy their full flavor.

Leave the leaves of pineapple and cut pineapple into half length ways. Scoop or cut the flesh, leaving the pineapple halves tack for use as container. Cut the flesh into cubes, remove the stem. Put pineapple in a bowl, add freshly grated ginger to taste, thick coconut milk and a little rum, cut or chopped bananas and mix all ingredients together. Put all the ingredients back into the pineapple halves and serve immediately.



Pineapple is a very good addition to smoothies, with papaya, some pumpkin seeds, flax seeds, and a banana. Besides being high in Bromelain and vitamin C, pineapple are also a rich source of beta-carotene, potassium, vitamin B-1 (cofactor for enzymatic reactions essential for energy production, vitamin B-2, iron, fiber, manganese (co-factor in a number of enzymes necessary for energy production and antioxidant defense), omega-3, calcium and certain bacteria.



Do you? Part of the fruit closest to the base of the fruit has more sugar content and therefore a sweeter taste and texture more tender than the top of the fruit.
