Why is much more emphasis placed on fluorescent bulbs rather than LED bulbs? Everyone says, "The Use compact fluorescent bulbs, they consume less electricity!"
But .. I worry because they contain mercury vapor.
LED bulbs, however, use even less electricity and lasts longer, much longer. They are also brighter.
So why do not we ever talk about LED lights?
CFL are cheaper than LEDs for the end user. large-scale LED lighting is not practical, but that the issue of heat is always a problem. Adequate lighting for lighting works so hot for normal everyday use.
The cost of bulbs is the largest decline. LED at any price over the size of CFL as a rule.
LED is coming and I support him, but it is not yet quite ready.
People are very afraid of change! Not me! I ask the same question! I loooooove LED lights fluroscent more compact!
LED bulbs are not bright at all. They use very little power and generate very little heat, but falls short of providing enough light to live.
The lights you think may be halogen bulbs, which provide a bright light and very much like an LED. However, they use much more electricity than fluorescent or LED and do not last very long. Their only advantage is that, as the LEDs do not use gas and only a small amount of plastic in their manufacturing.
The technologies are being developed for halogen and LED bulbs more efficient, and are therefore likely to be the "bulbs of the future!
During this time, fluorescent bulbs use very little power and provide a bright light. The gas inside need not be a worry, unless you're planning to open a crack and inhalation of gas! However, they are not environmentally friendly because of these gases. At present, however, they provide a cheaper energy efficient brighter and more lighting to halogen or LEDs.
Hope this helps,
Tom.

LED lighting is a new technology that is only beginning to be ready for residential use. In fact, you probably will not find an LED light that provides light output color right and you are accustomed to WalMart. The main reason is the initial price. LEDs are more expensive up front - they cost ten times more for a high luminous flux.
LEDs last 50,000 hours and halogen lamps for 3000. Once people begin to realize that it costs that much for 15 or more halogen lamps to LED, prices, even. For fluorescent lamps, cost-effectiveness is still looking to CFLs. CFLs last 15,000 hours and are relatively inexpensive. Even if they use more powerful, many people react to price and not product specifications.
LEDs Whats next, but the initial high cost is an investment difficult for some. Probably the best power options are available to high http://www.greenlightingled.com - I used in my own house and I'm saving money and enjoy plenty of light.
