Maine LobsterPosted on January 30, 2010. Can Maine lobster eggs hatch in a tank? I currently have a saltwater tank for crab and lobster. I discovered that a lobster has eggs. I put the lobster in a separate tank and I saw many much all green eggs on the bottom of the tank. My question is, it is possible that the eggs hatch? The type of lobster is the Maine lobster. Sorry, these eggs are dead. The eggs should normally remain attached to the underside of women. She keeps them well oxygenated by moving small appendages along the underside of the tail. Most likely the trauma of capture led her to release the eggs and they are dead. Another clue is that you have said eggs are green. normally they would start off white and maturity would be darker, certainly not green. Or perhaps they are not fertile In theory, yes they can. In reality, it is incredibly unlikely. You do not mention if you have male and female lobsters. If you do not then the answer is certainly not hatching. However, if you have males and females, then there is a small chance they have raised, and produced viable eggs. Just so you know, the chances of you winning the lottery are better than the chances that it occurred in a captive aquarium environment. Who cares how the poor lobster Back to the ocean!
