Newman's Own DressingFive steps to dress your CV naked with the perfect cover letter

Do you wear your last job interview? stupid question, right? As unthinkable as it would arrive naked in an interview, you are essentially making the same false Not when you send your resume to a potential employer not accompanied by a well-written letter.

Three indisputable truths about cover letters

Whether one speaks of a letter or your jersey for the best interview, three indisputable truths apply.

Firstly, as a good interview suit, a letter of motivation is essential. At some point in your life before you started your career, a wise person has advised you to buy a quality suit. And you did. Somewhere in your closet hangs black, navy blue, gray or suit that you have booked for your interviews. No employer should tell a candidate that sound professional wardrobe is scheduled interview. Even in the creative industries, it is understood that a candidate must be a business suit, although more latitude is given for the choice of colors and the style in traditionally conservative. Similarly, unless the job advertisement indicates otherwise, a potential employer expects that the applicant must provide a letter of motivation. Although the ad is not explicitly a letter is preferred, it is always good to include if for no other reason than to demonstrate how you can communicate your ideas and thoughts in writing.

Secondly, a complete cover letter your curriculum vitae. A goal of any interview is to project a confident attitude and a polished appearance. In preparation for your interview, you will have your suit dry cleaned, mended seams, loose buttons and guaranteed. You can also starch your shirt or blouse and polish your shoes. To complete your set you carefully choose the perfect accessory, perhaps a gold watch, necklace, or attached leather. Like the right accent can improve your conducting the interview, so, too, a well-written letter can add to the attractiveness of your CV. When you have your wardrobe for your next interview, you did not intend to wear two shirts, two suit jackets and two pairs of pants. Similarly, your letter should not only be a duplication of the information contained in your resume. Think of your cover letter as the finishing brush strokes on a masterpiece of painting.

Thirdly, a letter is appropriate. Your service is tailored suit to fit you perfectly. The pants are neither too short nor too long-sleeved jacket. You can bring your bathing suit to a friend, but it would not look nearly as beautiful on him because he has been tailored for you. Similarly, cover letters and more efficient does not read like they could adapt to any and all positions. Instead, they are individualized to fit the specific position for which the applicant is applying. In other words, if you want to submit your resume to ten different positions, you need to write ten letters from different cover. Nothing demonstrates a work ethic more doubtful that a potential employer to receive a generic drug, carries a letter it appears that the applicant has no more to change the date and cut and paste the address of the recipient.
