Potager - take care of them like children I have been gardening vegetables for a while now, and I learned some lessons the hard way. Horticulture offers great rewards - pride and satisfaction to grow beautiful edible plants and savings on weekly grocery bill! Here are some tips that should help you plan and grow healthy vegetables in your garden.
Versatile Legumes
There are two basic types of beans - kidney beans and pole beans. kidney beans do not need support and pole beans are climbers. In my garden, I used to grow bush beans, because they require less work. Call me lazy. Call me well fed.
But I found that pole beans are the best in my garden are nice because they can climb the fence or the old stems of taller plants such as sunflowers. I also used the climbing beans to beautify my garden. I planted these bean plants tall at the end of each line of the garden, making bows of tree branches required to make bows from row to row. The pole beans grow along the branch, making an attractive setting for the garden.
Beans are a warm-season crop and are easy to grow. They like rich, warm, sandy soil. They need full sun and well drained soil. Also, I found that they grow better when I rotate them with other vegetables in every season more and more others.
For the best tasting beans, I wait until all danger of frost is past and dig the vegetable garden depth. Normally, I work the garden for several weeks before I plant the seeds, as birds eat the eggs and larvae of insects that could damage my plants later. Then, I worked briefly in the soil to give the beans a good start.
I pitch my bush beans from one to 1-1/2 inches from the surface and about eighteen inches. My pole beans need more space with rows three feet apart for best results. Limas Bush needs more space than most plants of bush beans - like the pole beans. Remember to plant the beans singing eye pointed down.
generous space allows easy cultivation with a hoe in the growing season. And if my bean plants to get high, I just pinch the ends of the growth of plants. This encourages the outside, rather than upward growth.
dwarfs are dwarf beans, snap or string, wax, Limas, and so-called brittle beans. pole beans include pole Limas, wax and scarlet runner. The Spanish rider is a wonderful addition to my garden decoration. Its flowers are deep red and looks great against my old fence. Scarlet runners are nice additions to flower gardens and where you want a vine. The best thing about the wheel Scarlet you get both the beauty and the food.
You Can not Beat Beet!
Beets are root vegetables that grow on plants and flowers. They are easy to grow and can eat almost any plant. The top-sheet (a good source of vitamin A) can be used in fresh salads, and roots (good source of vitamin C) can be cooked. Believe it or not, the green leafy part is more nutritious than the root?
Although beets tolerate the heat, they do best in a cooler climate. They are good for a long growing season, and you can stagger the planting to ensure a continuous supply of fresh beets throughout the rest of the year.
Beet soil organic need to grow well. My beets do best in rich, sandy loam. I learned the hard way that fresh manure is fatal for beets. A particle of manure next to a beet can doom a young plant. To avoid this, I dig a trench feet deep, lay a thin layer of manure in the bottom of the trench, cover the manure with the topsoil well crumbled. This way, you get the benefits of manure fertilizer, while protecting your young beet plants.
When planting, space I lines about a foot apart to allow enough space for growing vegetables in my regard.
