Pruning Orange TreesWhen to prune naval orange?

We have 300 oranges which have just finished fruiting, they begin to bloom. Have we cut them now? and if so, how much do they need to be reduced?

Citrus fruits are not usually require much more than size.

Here are some recommendations to follow;

1. It is recommended that you prune citrus almost any time from March to August, but just before flowering is the best

2. Remove dead, diseased or members who travel to open the center of the tree

3. Prune branches that grow too large, or are

4. Painting newly exposed branches at the sun with diluted white latex paint - half water, half paint. This step will prevent sunburn to sensitive bark

I hope this information has been of some use to you. GOOD LUCK!

when not in bloom!
