Roundup Ready CornPosted on January 26, 2010. ready seed corn Roundup? A farmer gave me a bag of maize partial RR. I did grow up in a hobby farm, about an acre value. Now I'm out of seeds. Is corn seed produced by these resistant to Roundup, so I saved some seeds from this plant years and has planted the next year? Ebola and pre-cancerous cells??? Sowht F, where do you get your information? The Roundup is a soil bacterium, not Ebola! Roundup kills plants by blocking the process of amino acids that produce sugars in the plant. This is why a plant dies slowly sprayed Roundup, without these essential sugars that literally starving to death. The Roundup in the bacterium is immune to the amino acid blocking properties of the herbicide Roundup. When spliced into the DNA of a plant suceptible otherwise, it essentially provides a "detour" around the blocked gene, like a temporary bridge detour around a bridge not allow traffic to continue on unchanged. Did you know that corn farmers have big ears? Flag I'm not sure, but I would say yes. The problem is that what you describe is illegal. Monsanto holds a patent on Roundup Ready technology, and planting the seeds you save is illegal. Monsanto charges a Tech on every bag of Roundup Ready seed, and they do not like it when they are not given the chance to collect. I agree with Bob B. Be careful when using Roundup Ready (which is owned and manufactured by a company called Mega Monsanto), that is unless you enjoy the proceedings that failed you and your family.
