Can I eat and use the rose petals from my garden as they are free of sprays and such? I would try to make sugar rose petals to put on cakes and cup-cakes. Thank you
The toxicants rose petals from your garden are well suited for use as you wish, and
many other applications as well.
You can make rose water to flavor cakes and / or cherry, for perfumes and antiseptics. Jam is also made from the petals, and the taste is incredible. Use the petals and potpourri.
It is very satisfying to be able to use our various garden flowers etc in our house, and more
products of our vegetable garden.
You can also make a rose syrup
Makes 12 cups
6 cups rose petals packed
12 cups water
Six cups white sugar

1. In large bowl add rose petals have a big heavy plate that fits over the bowl perfectly.
2. Boil 12 cups water and pour over the petals of rose and quickly cover with plate.
3. Set aside until the water cools.
4. petal water spots and discard.
5. Mix water and sugar in a large saucepan and bring to a boil until sugar is dissolved. But do not boil, heat the water just enough to dissolve the sugar.
6. If the color is not to your liking, you can adjust. Keep refrigerated. Last about three months in the refrigerator.
Also make sure that nobody has used a systems approach "for the roses on them, either .... you can not see them as they go aorund the roots, but they are to keep bugs from making the bad taste or plant becomes toxic to pests ..... not good in food .....
